Educational Requirements
Ph.D. in neuroscience, biomedical/electrical engineering, chemistry, or physics.
Qualifications and Experience
The following skills and experience are required for this position:

Previous experience in patch clamp recording in vitro, preferably in in brain slices in both voltage and current clamp.

Computer skills including self-directed data analysis of electrophysiological data, curve fitting, programming in Python or Matlab (in order of preference). An ability to develop algorithms for analysis of new kinds of data. Expert familiarity with spread sheets, reference management software, and word processing tools.

Knowledge of electronics and electronic equipment as related to electrophysiological techniques.

Knowledge of microscope optics for both transmitted light and fluorescence.

Surgical skills for dissection of live brain tissue under a microscope.

Knowledge of the literature related to the specific research projects in neuroscience in general. An ability to identify, read, evaluate, and discuss current research results from the literature, and to independently formulate testable scientific hypotheses based on the literature and on direct experimental observations.

Knowledge of central nervous system anatomy at both the gross and cellular level in rodents.

Ability to teach and train additional personnel in all of the above skills.
